The „Blue Angel" volunteers Dragica, Željko and Vedrana are currrently volunteering in Uganda, residing in Bugembe near the city of Jinja. Jinja is located 80km away from the capital Kampala, on the shores of the beautiful lake Victoria and on the source of the Nile river. Uganda is a wonderful country of green areas, tea, banana and mango plantations, as well as of many lakes and national parks.
It borders Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda, Congo and Tanzania. Bugembe is one of the poorest settlements in Uganda and it is also a place where „Blue Angel" started its project to help African children in cooperation with the humanitarian organization Clemensi Uganda in Jinja town.
The first three volunteers are currently residing there and are preparing the arrival of new volunteers that will be able to work with children in orphanages, schools or on the selection of the poorest children for the sponsorship program in Croatia. They can also continue visiting homes of the poorest children and work on plenty of other tasks.
The majority of children live with their grandmothers because their parents are dead, so they have nobody who would provide schooling for them. Most of them receive only one meal a day, or none, that contains of posh - baked flour with water. Everyone who wants to help raising money to feed the poorest children without parents can do so by sending donations to our giro account.
