We would like to make a brief report on our recent work starting from the beginning of this year, when our organization had just been established, until today. Although we have been working for 8 months only, we are quite satisfied with our achievements as well as the results in helping others in need.
Our first mission „For children of Kenya" has been conducted as a photo exhibition of Kenyan children, exhibited throughout city libraries during whole year, as well as a concert and through donations that helped us build a new house for the Kenyan family with five children. The mission lasts until the end of the year as we are still raising donations for food and other supplies in Kenya, that are going to be forwarded to the Franciscan mission (fra Miro Babić) afterwards.
Afterwards we have started another mission to help Zahirović family with 11 children, for whom we organized a concert named „Songs to little angels" that along with your donations helped us collect enough supplies needed by family to make through the harsh winter. We have collected several meters of firewood. We have also managed to cover health insurance fees for the youngest child Stela from November until May, as well as buying generator supply for the family. Five of their children went to summer holidays organized by the local Centre for social welfare without charge, while our organization secured enough money and clothing for them according to their daily needs. I honestly hope that the City will find a solution for the family, especially after their visit to mayor and our organization's pointing out to their problem. We have collected food, clothing and footwear for them. We would like to thank to all who have participated in our mission. The mission continues to last until the end of 2012 and we are asking all of you to help by donations, because without your help our organization's work wouldn't be possible. You can donate either in food that we will forward it to families or in money that you can send to our giro account.
We have also helped in food and clothing several other families and we have provided a computer bought by donations to boy Jasmin from Sisak. We would like to thank our current donors as well as prospect ones.
Along with all these we have been running a project for Uganda by sponsoring children without parents, HIV-positive children or those with sick family members. We are calling for everyone who would like to sponsor a child to contact our organization. Please remember that somewhere in a faraway world there is a child waiting for you to save him/her from streets and hunger by providing him/her tuition fees coverage and three meals a day, and all that for less than a monthly cost spent on coffee. If you opt for sponsorship, we will send you a questionary to fill out along with information and photos of a child. You can sponsor a poor child in Croatia as well. We are also organizing a volunteering in Uganda that many people are interested in. Volunteers can go volunteering whenever that suits them for the period of a month or more. You don't need any previous knowledge or preparation because in the beginning a smile, hug and a nice word are enough to a child, while later it all comes naturally by itself. We are also preparing volunteering programs in other countries where we will send volunteers when needed in Tanzania, Kenya and India. English language and informatics teachers along with people who would work with children in orphanages are in high demand.
